We always supply a top quality micro-fibre lens cleaning cloth with every new pair of spectacles you purchase.
All that grime, grease and gunge from your lenses will be captured in the fibre of your cloth. This is exactly what the lens cleaning cloth is designed for.
After a while it will become dirty and will not be as effective. The cloth could transfer grease back onto your lenses, resulting in smears. It may even damage them. This is because tiny gritty particles of dirt trapped in your cleaning cloth could scratch your lenses as you clean them.
So what should you do? Throw the cloth away and buy a new one?
Fortunately, that isn’t necessary. Good quality micro-fibre cloths are easy to wash and reuse.
Washing opens the gaps between fibres, so that the cloth can capture dust and dirt from your lenses. High-quality cloths can be washed and reused multiple times.
Before washing, shake out your lens cleaning cloth to remove any excess dirt and grit.
Then either wash in a washing machine or hand wash 👇🏼
Much depends on how dirty the cloth is. If you can see the dirt on your cloth, or feel it is greasy, that is the time to wash it. Or just pop the cloth into the washing machine when you do your regular washing.
