Simple Lenses for One Specific Use

The price of a basic Single Vision lens is included in the cost of spectacle frames. Additions such as coatings, thin lenses, and Transitions etc. are also available at an additional cost.

Distance Vision

For driving, watching tv and general purpose use.

Intermediate Vision

For use at arms length such for VDU

Near Vision

For reading or seeing something at a close distance

Bifocal

A very simple form of seeing at 2 distances with one lens. Essentially they are 2 single vision lenses, 1 on top of the other, allowing you to see distance through one and close up through the other.

Bifocal

The compromise is that you are restricted to 2 distances, rather than all distances like a Varifocal. There is also a visible line on the lens which can be off putting. Lens coating and treatment options are also available.

Varifocal

The ever-changing, constantly developing and increasingly useful Varifocal is a lens that allows you to see at all distances, rather than having to rely on separate single vision glasses, or a compromised vision range with bifocals.

We have a range of specialist lenses for specific circumstances.

Digital Single Vision

Used for our customers who have complex prescription requirements, such as very high powers, prisms or high astigmatism. Using Digital Varifocal manufacturing technology, these lenses help to reduce the distortions normally produced on high prescription lenses when using traditional manufacturing techniques. They cost around the same as a quality pair of varifocals, with prices varying depending on which coatings and Transitions lens options are applied.

Occupational

Perfect for those who spend all their working life in front of a screen. While these lenses use Varifocal technology to work, unlike those, they offer significantly more Intermediate vision than the best varifocals can. This means it is also great for use with 2 or more screens and can be set to an exact distance for best performance.

Driving lenses

Some people really struggle when driving, particularly at night. With more modern cars that have very bright white headlights, it can be difficult and distracting. These lenses make driving at night much more comfortable. There are several options here. Including a combination of tints, coatings, materials, even driving specific varifocal lenses. We will advise you on what will be best for you based on exactly what you are struggling with, and how best to overcome it.

Anti-Fatigue

This lens has a near vision booster property to it. Great for people who are not yet requiring any additional spectacles for reading but will make life much easier when looking at a screen for long periods of time.

Standard Anti Reflection Coating

Significantly reduces the reflections on the lenses which allows them to be more transparent, which in turn improves the optical performance, as well as a cosmetic benefit.

Premium Anti Reflection Coating

An upgrade on the standard coating, this product features water, oil & dust repellent properties which mean the lenses to are significantly easier to keep clean. This also comes with a two-year scratch guarantee. So even if your lenses are scratched by accident, we will replace them free of charge within a two-year period. Supplied as standard on Digital Advanced Varifocals, Occupational & Digital Single vision lenses. Also available at an additional cost on all other lenses.

Honeycomb

No ordinary coating. Using natures technology of honeycomb design, more light is distributed from all areas of the lens improving vision and reducing eye fatigue. Ideal for working in low light, artificial light, driving at night & in bad weather, working on screens & motion sickness. Full UVA & UVB protection is included as well as the same 2 year scratch guarantee as the Premium coating.

Blue Light Filter

Designed to filter the blue-light rays emitted from electrical devices such as smart phones, tablets and PC monitors. This reduces eye strain when using these devices. These lenses also have the added benefit of the 2 year scratch guarantee. Studies have found that blue light filtering can help with various eye conditions. Light Reactive Treatment

The lenses go darker when exposed to sunlight. This is very useful for protecting our eyes from harmful UV rays & the intensity of the sun. There are 3 products available: Photochromatic – Basic version, slowest to change, good value for money. Transitions ™– The market leaders & latest design, fastest changing, but does not work in the car Transitions™ XtrActive® - Goes darker & works up to 50% intensity in the car but is slower to change back to clear.

Polarised

The best option for sunglasses. When light hits a reflective surface, such as snow, water, even cars and buildings, the light can become polarised resulting in glare that can interfere with your vision. Only Polarised lenses can remove this glare. Available in grey, brown and green colours, and full UV protection.

Tints

An ideal sun protection & style option. You can choose how dark you would like the tint to be. We will show you some samples to make your decision easier. Sun options: Available in grey, brown & green Fun options: Available in blue, violet, yellow, pink & red amongst others.
